Our goal is to provide a social space for like minded people to enjoy their adventure bike. We organise regular group rides, on and off-road. They're aimed at experienced riders and new riders too.

We're here for you!

This group is for bikers in Wiltshire and the surrounding areas, we organise group rides for members with a focus on social inclusion of participants. We always ride at a safe pace for the conditions and   terrain and will aim to ride legally at all times.

Your WAR Team

These are the main ride leaders, although anyone in the group can organise rides.

Nick C.

Nick is an experienced adventure bike rider who, like so many, came from a mountain biking and bike-trekking background when his knees gave up on the idea of pedalling.  He loves on and off-road trips, in groups or solo.  Preferring to be outdoors, he'll camp rather than stay in hotel in most circumstances.

He has strong route planning and leadership skills and often organises trips for Wiltshire Adventure Riders.  His largest trip to date has been a three and a half week-long tour of Scandinavia which took him into the artic circle and to the very northmost point in Europe.

His current bikes are an Africa Twin and a rather ancient Triumph Tiger 900.

Outside of bikes, Nick runs a national architecture and property development practice and is also a trustee at Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

Likes: Big trips, exploring, pubs, pottering about.

Fav foods: Beef wellington or a Sunday roast

Tipple: Whiskey

Dislikes: Crashing, sleet, hippies, speed cameras

Dream bike: It is still the Africa Twin.

Les W.

Leslie is old-enough-to-know better but despite this still occasionally rides like the teenager he was back in the early 80’s when he got his Gilera 50 on the road, now on his 58th consecutive motorcycle having ridden off-road, road and track across most of Europe and India, an enthusiastic participant in the Police Bikesafe and Ridesafe initiatives he likes to kid himself that you really can teach an old-dog new tricks and believes that the human mind is like a parachute, in that it only works when open. Can be relied upon to enthusiastically drag you down his level of kinetic-excess if you’re not careful and has just cold-heartedly abandoned over a decade of loyalty with his preferred brand of orange madness that is KTM to acquire a nice, sensible, shaft drive BMW GS to go along with his sensible chartered-surveyor persona. Leslie lives near Bristol, is married with a young son and doesn’t take life too seriously, because, well, “after all, none of us are getting out of it alive…”

Likes: riding as fast as he can see it’s safe to stop in the braking distance available, finding out where tracks go, the occasional beer, sunshine, positive people and most animals he’s ever met. Dislikes, people who have a problem for every solution, tequila and absinthe cocktails (best not to ask why) and obstructions he can’t get around, over, past of (occasionally) through!

Stan P.

Like Nick, Stan started with mountain biking. Riding single track in Wales was his passion and downhill racing was becoming an obsession until he broke his arm in 3 places!

In 2004 he watched a little known documentary called “The Long Way Round”, this was something like an epiphany. Adventure motorcycling seemed like the next logical step on two wheels. So, he took the leap and got his license later that year.

His first adventure bike was a 1999 BMW 1100GS. 2017 brought a new job and a Harley Davidson Sportster, a dream bike for many years. But in 2018 Stan had a serious heart attack and subsequent heart failure. This forced him into a rethink of the type of riding wanted to do and a Tiger 800XCX was soon in the garage.

Currently Stan Rides a Harley Davidson Pan America Special, a labor of love and hate as it’s been reliable at times…..

Stan is a senior Parts Advisor for a KIA dealer, he also likes woodwork having worked with his Dad building furniture for interior designers. He once made a table that featured in Kensington Palace as part of the Princess Diana Memorial.

Likes: Marvel, Star Wars Motorsport and anything motorbikes.

Fav Foods: Lemon Drizzle Cake, Fish (Heart Healthy) and Salad Cream on everything!

Tiple: Guiness or Spiced Rum

Dislikes: Morons, Crocs, Getting Drunk

Dream Bike: Ducati Desert X
